Friends since childhood, award winning Canadian multi-instrumentalists Jonathan Chan and Jan Bislin founded Momento while completing their Master’s degrees in Performance at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. What began as a shared classical foundation evolved into a contemporary violin duo combining acoustic performance, electronic production, and modern live performance.
 

Having performed across Europe, North America, China, and Saudi Arabia, Momento has built a reputation for high-energy performances that combine original music with inventive reinterpretations of contemporary and classic repertoire. Their sound is rooted in years of rigorous classical training, yet shaped by a wide spectrum of influences including pop, jazz, funk, hip hop, blues, rock, and electronic music. Their diverse musical influences are unified by the violin-led sound that defines Momento. 
 

Known for crafting emotionally dynamic live sets, Momento approaches performance as a journey, balancing cinematic intensity with spontaneity and crowd-driven energy. Their ability to move fluidly between genres and performance settings has made them equally at home on concert stages, festival lineups, luxury events, and immersive productions.
 

The duo first gained momentum as regular headline performers for Sofar Sounds, later appearing alongside artists including James Blunt and Stefanie Heinzmann, and collaborating with Cirque Éloize and Olympic champion figure skaters during the 2019 Art on Ice tour. Across various UK and international productions, they have shared stages with musicians from the legendary Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and other artists including Tim Minchin, John Legend, Norah Jones, John Newman, and Gary Barlow.
 

Beyond the stage, Momento has performed for brands and organizations including UEFA, Cartier, Bloomberg, Robb Report, and The Old Vic. As recording artists and string arrangers, they have worked with RAYE, Riton, Lostboy, Gioli & Assia, Ella Eyre, and Gabrielle Aplin.
 

From once competing against one another in classical competitions to creating music together around the world, Jonathan and Jan formed Momento with a shared vision: to push the boundaries of the violin and bring its sound to audiences far beyond the traditional concert hall.
